PROJECT INFO

Empowerment

Employment brings dignity, productivity, and much improved quality of life. That is why Cura Mission supports a sewing factory in the DPRK, in partnership with Dream, Hope, Future Foundation. New equipment recently acquired will allow the women to make many more blankets for the orphans. But for material and equipment costs, the factory still relies on the generosity of donors.

The North Korean women employed at this factory make cloth sanitary napkins, clothes, trinkets, and winter blankets to be distributed to orphanages. The work of their hands directly feeds their families and improves the health and well-being of their children. Funds for raw materials and wages are necessary to keep this project operational and robust. However, by selling their handiwork to individuals and companies abroad, the factory aims to become self-sustainable. Employing DPRK women is yet another way that Cura supports sustainability development in the DPRK.
