Greenhouses

Satisfying “the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” requires more planning, development, and instruction than do aid programs. To achieve better food security, Cura has been exploring the possibility of setting up greenhouse projects at select orphanages throughout the DPRK. The greenhouse environment could ensure that children have a supply of fresh vegetables during North Korea’s long, harsh winters. And as a means of reducing costs, converted shipping containers could potentially be used as the walls of the greenhouse.

Once a partner organization signs on, Cura estimates that approximately $10,000 will be needed for container costs, delivery, conversion, installation and shipping.
