PROJECT INFO

Training

Vocational training is a means of providing options for young people who age out of the orphanage system. In partnership with Gearing Up for Hope and ACT Lab, LLC, Cura sent an initial shipment of 178 bikes and scooters was able to facilitate the set up of a bicycle and engine repair class to teach the graduating orphans valuable life skills. The stated goal of this project is to “get bicycles into the hands of people in developing communities … and to educate them in the areas of maintenance and repair.”

The first shipment of bicycles and scooters arrived and was distributed to four orphanages. The 723 orphans at Wonsan Senior Secondary School are receiving vocational training on how to repair bikes and scooters. These 16-17 year olds will thus be better prepared once they graduate and join the work force. Upon evaluation of this pilot project, the hope is to be able to replicate it at other orphanages throughout the country.
